Notions of time and place collide in the work of Jamilah Sabur. In her multidisciplinary practice, the artist considers the past, present, and future along with complex relationships between varied geographies. Sabur’s 2019 exhibitions include a solo exhibition Un chemin escarpé / A steep path at the Hammer Museum and a group exhibition The Other Side of Now: Foresight in Contemporary Caribbean Art at the Perez Art Museum. Sabur was an artist in residence at the Crisp-Ellert Art Museum in 2017. She is currently an artist in residence at Oolite Arts.
Jamilah Sabur was born in 1987 in Jamaica. She lives and works in Miami.
